Street of Stars
Revenge
Perhaps a matter of habit
Somehow
Decades of repression
Bang bang done
Ashima can bear witness
She still sits by the tracks
Deep down in the station
Next to her creator
Twelve years have passed
Branko’s become an old hound
And Bappi longs for a dog
The black wall safe is empty
Completely
The pyramids are gone
The great one the healthy one—
He cursed the thieves in autumn
Once he was a thief himself
This universe is inexhaustible
It belongs to us
It never belonged to us
Oh heavens
In stillness lies kindness
The Street of Stars sparkles so
This red staircase leads the way
I will take this path now—
Without a shred of guilt
Street of Stars
