Just like the leaves of autumn. I watched your colours fade.
I watched you gently float at first, then suddenly cascade.
And like a tree without its leaves, empty, bare, and blank.
Life was frozen, still in time, while all the leaves just sank.
Green to Yellow. Orange to red, and finally to Brown.
The colours changed, and just like us, the leaves all hit the ground.
And when a gust of wind would blow, the leaves got swept away.
Some blew east, and some blew west, depending on the day.
So separated by the wind, they floated far and wide.
No longer hanging from the tree, no longer side by side.
One went right and one went left, and just like you and me.
One stayed right where it landed, and the other went to sea.
It floated on the ocean, and never did look back.
The other leaf, just landed still, and stayed there on the track.
And The leaf that drifted out to sea, eventually forgot,
About the other leaf one day, but sadly she did not.
You see, I’m just like that little leaf. Years later,  stuck there still.
This little leaf cannot forget…
Perhaps she never will.
