The newlyweds stood next to each other,
Smiling widely as they finally came together.
Fingers entwined,
As their thoughts unwind,
Of how strong their love is for one another.

But far away,
By the cake display,
There stood their friend,
Who had attended, but otherwise pretended.

As she watched, her thoughts went wild,
But she managed to put on a bittersweet smile.
She's happy for them,
Together they shine like a stunning gem.

But she can't shake it off,
The feeling that made her go soft,
When she realised she would never be like them.

Never,
Ever,
In
A
Million
Years.

Well, that was before he came along.
He came into her life pretty strong,
His laughs as sweet as a song,
And when she laughed along,
It was the greatest singalong.
