Some would say, hope can shield against rayless eclipse of all meaning.
Yet I know, hope is frail and defenseless, she is but a child.
And her guidance is fabric of dreams, so naïve, so unreal,
You can only pretend to believe them to keep her sleep sound.

Some would say, touch of hope can bestow ****** wings on the fallen,
Can revive in the hearts burnt to ashes a lifetime afar.
Yet I know, haunting visions of truth can so deeply appall her,
You will happen to walk through the flames holding her in your arms.

Some would say, hope won’t leave till those moments within soar unburdened.
Yet I know, to survive her last breath – is what looms over some.
To face oceans of void crashing waves past the end of all stories,
To descend into black nonetheless ever-darkening chasm.

Be thus strong to protect sacred friend from the nightmares and evils,
Lest you look down the eyes of those days that will nowise forgive you.
