Oh, he loves the way she smiles,
The glance that lingers for a while.
A spark ignites, then drifts away,
As if her heart can’t let it stay...

They dance on edges, close and far,
She shines, and yet, he chases a star,
Too bright to hold, too wild to claim,
Afraid to give her heart a name.

He feels it in the words she speaks,
The guarded truths, the shadows bleak.
A fortress built around her soul,
Afraid that love might take its toll.

He reaches for her, she pulls away,
He begs her not to feel dismay.
But fear’s a weight she wears like chains,
It binds her wings, it clouds the plains.

Why is it today she's happy, next thing she's apart?
One moment they're talking, next thing she departs?
Is it love itself she's hiding from?
A storm too fierce, a fire too strong...

And so he stands here in between,
A dream that’s felt but never seen.
He waits, he hopes, he wonders still,
If time will bend her iron will.

For he would give her all he is,
But only if she'll take his hand.
So here he waits, beneath the sky,
Wishing she'd trust what they are...

But until then, he'll watch her go,
With all the love she'll never know.
