When I was young, live was not expendable,
It was short lived, earned like respect, easy to loose,
I soon learned to be a people pleaser
Bending my will to please others,
So that I in fact could feel loved
But this love was not real, love can't be earned as trust is,
It should be unconditional, something that lasts, inevitable,
But now I'm 17 and doubting it's existence,
The shouting at night screams of I hate you,
Things that prove love is conditional, unwanted and unhealthy,
Love is simply a cover up of the need for financial support,
Women couldn't work in previous generations, couples are needed to populate the planet,
But love is it really there or something made up like fairytales to keep kids happy
The only love I've experienced in short lived, short term
Fueled by Hightend emotions
So is it real and I'm just unlucky in love or do people cling to the belief in the existence of it in hopes for it themselves?
