I do not want to fall in love with you,
for falling in love is one sided.
Being in love requires the both of us,
One of two hearts never divided.

I want to hold your hand in the park,
walk downtown after dark.
Laugh and smile at falling snow,
watch you in awe as you wear my coat.

I want to be inspired by the way you talk,
write songs about the way you walk.
I want to lay down and take a nap,
wake up with your head in my lap.

I want to whisper the secrets of the world into your ear,
we are the only ones who matter, my darling, my dear.
No matter where we are or what we do,
I want to be in love with you.

But how could I have possibly known
That falling is all I'd ever have
Falling out of love hurts abundantly more
Than falling in love ever had

There is no hand holding in the park
There are no walks after dark
Your skin will never see my coat
These streets will never see the snow

I have the world's worst writer's block
There will be no songs about how you walk
I stay up all night, 'till half past three
I've never been one to get much sleep

I'll shout the secrets of the world for everyone to hear
Who cares who matters, no one is near
No matter what I did, the thing I couldn't help but do
Well, I still couldn't help falling for you.
