I want to know where to go,
So why don’t they light the roads?
My headlights only stretch so far,
And I’m courteous of other cars.
So I keep them off of high beam mode.
But why don’t they light the roads?

Those cat’s eyes are looking back at me,
Honestly my only company.
A feline’s eyes with no feelings,
Staring at them my thoughts are reeling
How can I lighten this load?
And why don’t they light the roads?

I have to predict every swerve,
Life’s always throwing me these curves.
I know that I’ve driven the route before,
But that doesn’t help during this downpour.
My vision’s blurred and my engine’s slowed.
Please god won’t you light the roads?
