The Hungry Power
When dreaming
It slithers inside of your fear
Crouched with dangerous excite
Ready to strike
Just to insight
Fear
The Hungry Power
A smooth creature with a fire for power
And a power for smelling fear
A striking beauty
You fear to go near
Seeming to sympathize
While it's stroking back your hair
You realize it's feeding on your fear
The Hungry Power
smells it's wounded prey
And with power of understanding clear as day
Only wants a better view
Standing raw
With open insides
What's there behind your eyes
The fear
The Hungry Power
pounces to induce
Induce the fear
The fear to rise
To rise inside
Instead of sooth
The Hungry Power
It bites down on the wound
A twisted nurse
Trapped inside
Inside the power
The power of its own mind
Being drained
No more life
Your only defense
And new strength to fight
Is in the mirror you shine
In the Hungry Power's eyes
Suddenly needing to stop and take root
It must accept what it knows
Is its deepest
Darkest truth
Then peering inside
All that's left on the floor
Is nothing more
Than some fear left inside
Of a power hungry suit
