Can I love
What shouldn’t be loved
This is not me asking for permission
But rather wondering if it’s possible
If it’s possible to feel warmth in the snow
Or dry in the rain

If it’s possible to see a glow in the night
Of the brown eyes
That look at me coldly
Telling me to leave

But I’m not scared
Not scared of the lion that roars
Or the snake hiding in the brush

Because we are all human
Which are all animals
Just wanting to survive.
Can I love?
