A SILENCE TOO LOUD

the wheeze
of the sea
breathing in and out

a wall
crumbling back
to its beginning

as the wisteria
with all its gentle strength
has crushed it to the ground

a town
bleached
by the sun

as if it were a faded
photograph of
its long ago self

a silence
too loud
for the human ear to hear
