THE SEASIDE'S DAY OUT

the ocean had disappeared
from view
probably on its coffee break

or whatever oceans do
when we
are not looking at them

the mountains were silent
now
their noses in the air

when the humans had gone
they chatted amongst themselves
wore stupid looking clouds on their heads

the littlest mountain tiptoed
nearer and nearer the ocean until:
". . .bOO!"

"God" gasped the ocean
"Ya nearly put the heart
crossways in me!"

the ocean sulked
ignoring the mountain's jeers
gazing at its own horizon

the ocean said nothing...nothing
did not even utter
a single solitary seagull
