in absentia
i feel unaccompanied.
sipping hot chocolate in every
cafe i've never been to,
holding back while you
sit back in absentia..
i've never heard a clock tick
so loudly
& so slowly . . .
t i c k . . . t o c k . . . t i c k . . . t o c k . .
he asks me how you're doing.
how little he knows.
t i c k . . . t o c k . . . t i c k . . . t o c k . .
you were the one that
didn't think i was too much
but never wanted me to be less.
t i c k . . . t o c k . . . t i c k . . . t o c k . .
it's sad that i have to look
for you when i need you,
though you're never around.
t i c k . . . t o c k . . . t i c k . . . t o c k . .
because when you need me,
you know i'm right where you left me.
