Time is of the essence,
Just waiting to teach the lesson
Of why good things don't last
And end up in the past.

Time is ticking on by,
Strapped to the wall, it's all going to fly
Right past us if we don't stop to think
That maybe we're on the brink

Of losing all the time we have to use.
Dear, we're just loose
Hands to a clock spinning without accord to
Where we're headed, just spinning through

The motions and wasting time trying
To make it work. We are defying
The laws of time and throwing it away,
Wasting another day.

Like the little and big hand,
We only land
Side by side, one over the other only so
many times, and this leads me to know

That I'm ticking one way,
And you're ticking astray.
So maybe we save some each other the time
And draw the line

*here.
It's about a relationship where you and another person just being to drift apart and realize that you don't have the time to fix the issues or to make time for one another. You realize the two of you don't overlap and converge like you used to. It's about realizing that and letting it go.
