Afraid of the Dark
Ahead and clear, the empty void,
So sudden thought my life deployed,
No wings or horns to greet my heart,
Just memories I once enjoyed.
No soul for ferryman to cart,
No visions of another start,
Just endless dark beyond my gaze,
No stars, for my good deeds, to chart.
Lightning mind on short-lived days,
Eyes now fall behind the haze,
A gasp of air, a speechless plea,
Is granted with residual daze.
The question now, here stands before me,
If not now, when shall my time be?
What can I do before I go?
What would they do, if now was lastly?
I do not think I want to know,
For now, I will enjoy the show,
I’ll hide this wisdom deep below,
I do not think I want to know.
