The Pied Oystercatcher
I live on the white-yellow sand,
between a world of water, and
the green line of land.
"What are these creatures that pass through their worlds?"
The whistling pine shades the lizard men and their lizard hopes.
They are fat and grey,
speckled, wrinkled and motionless.
The white shoreline betrays the jellyfish, castaways from a prison tide.
They are fat and grey,
tentacled, wrinkled and motionless
I search this white-yellow land,
Seeking a black and white companion
of the sand.
