The Gift

As you open your eyes to the bright lights

You can't seem to remember things quite well

As the nurse comes in you realise were you are

However you can't seem to think at the moment

As you catch your breath the doctor comes in

As you ask him questions, he fills you in on the details about what had happened

However, you believe that he left put some important detail

Although you don't know what to ask now you just patiently went back to sleep

As you were discharged out of the hospital

The doctor asks if you remember anything

As you answer him the only thing you said was "No"

As you left you felt tears flowing out of your eyes

As you wipe them off you don't know the reason for the tears

Each time you slept you always have a dream of a man you haven't met before

However each time it ends you wake up always in tears

As you ask your co-workers and friends about it

They don't know who you were talking about

Each passing day, you can't seem to remember

However you believed it had something to do with your memories that were gone

As you revisit the hospital once again

Tears came flowing out once again as you were about to enter through the door

As you tried to make an appointment with the same doctor

You weren't able to, however you ran into him as he was making a leave

Although you couldn't make an appointment, he invited you to his house for dinner

As his wife prepared dinner, you asked him more questions about your memories

He had said the same thing to you as he did last time "Amnesia"

Although you don't believe him

You decided to ask him about the man you keep seeing in your dreams

As you finished he started to feel guilty as he cried

When he stopped he told you everything that actually happened

As he finished, you put your hands on your chest and cried as you heard the truth

He told you it was a gift from him and that you should cherish what he gave to you

When you got home, you looked at yourself in the mirror

And put your hands on your heart and heard it beat again and again, over and over

You held back your tears this time and swore never to cry or shed any tears

Because you and I will always be together

No matter how far apart we may be, we will always be close to one another
