Heroes
My heroes were
windows of wonder
That gathered no dust
upon sills
But under the leaves
of their autuums
They turned into stargates
battling over their own wills
Falling like meteors
into the deathtrap of time
Across the night's sky
to the memories of mind
Upon the sad realization
that it was evident
They were no more
infallible than the heavenly sent
That their seconds were
accumulating score
Leading to the exit of the
house of life's back door
All of my Heroes are zeros who got lucky in some way
Whose arc of spark is spent
and now fade away
