A Message She'll Never See

A Message She’ll Never See

When did you begin to lose faith?

When did you stop believing in what could be

and come to the conclusion that it can’t?

Why do you want what hurts in comparison to what could work

I guess then I should ask why you should settle for less

when you can work for what you want

but it’s not like we’re kids anymore,

time has taught us that plus distance is an added factor

but we never added that

In some respect,

we could come together and still be those same people

who laugh and chill as if nothing ever changed

but it has and that’s what keeps us at bay

I could say “I love you”

but I could never mean it the same way

Then I could say “I miss you”

but that doesn’t guarantee that you’d stay.

People change,

I accept that but I just hope that you know

I pray that you never let go,

of this thing called love.
