Ode to the Road
the road
starting black as the night should be
if light pollution weren't a thing
fading quickly to an ashy grey
because everything does that
the sun is rude
animals go splat
when cars zoom past
cherry juice all over
covering the orange stripes
yes, the ones we call yellow
banana peels and peaches look nothing alike
sometimes people go splat too
because other people
can't drive I guess
