Sep 2013
here i am.
i had been there
but now i've stepped back
and am observing the scene
as an innocent bystander
with no connection to either
of the persons standing before me
wrapped in each other's embrace.
through my detached gaze
i notice the moment of impact
the instant the world stilled.
her heart stopped fluttering
and her breathing calmed
her mind was quiet
and her soul was at rest.
and in that blink of an eye,
the second that ended much too quickly,
she was safe,
she was home,
and she was loved.
