This nearly autumn time
and a field set aside,
grassed green and partly shadowed.

Late afternoon, evening almost:
a confluence, a convergence
there of nature’s diagonals.

A house and home
hide under a darkened wood,

in the light trees stand *****
with leaves for a while yet

before those September storms
and wet October’s mists arrive.
