I can't promise that you'll be glad
I can't promise that you'll be sad
I can't promise there will be sun
I can't promise you will have fun
Who knows the hour or the day
When we will come into pouring rain?
And who knows after how many
Rainbows there will be?
People have seen one or two
Perhaps just maybe you will see three!
I can't show you trouble on every turn
I can't say how many bridges
That will be burned
And it's likely you'll fall into a hole
But its easier for people
To pick you up and say
"Ready, set, go!"
And just like that, you're on your way
You are farther than you were yesterday
The banners are waving the flags they fly
Everyone's cheering for you
Though you wonder why
The days are long
And the nights are cold
Thankfully you have a hand
That you can always hold!
And when you are tired
I'm sure you can sit on a porch
And when you are in darkness,
There's always someone to hold your torch.
