My mother taught me how to
doubt myself; now I look in
the mirror with hatred and
see a girl who's an expert
at disappointment.
My father showed me that
alcohol turns you into someone
you swore you would never be,
yet I drink it now to forget
what he did to me.
I see my parents reflected
in myself, two people I
promised myself I would
never resemble, yet here I am:
an identical copy.
