Birds Outside My Window
Today I woke up
slept through three of my classes
and slept for another two hours
in the afternoon
It's funny how before
I would've freaked out
for being called lazy
and doing minimal work all day
If I didn't do sports
If I didn't finish homework
If I didn't get praise
If I didn't win a medal
Was I really successful?
My lifestyle is different now
It seems kind of scary
from when my head leaves the pillow
to when it returns
Sometimes I forget
I'm growing up
My definition of success
is changing as well
But today I checked the mail
I brushed my hair
I ate a meal
and I washed the dishes
As long as I can hear
the birds outside my window
I can say
that I'm successful
except i have no idea where the birds outside my window went.
