i was waving
not drowning
saw you on the beach
out of reach
shouting hi
just thought I oughta
whilst treading water
and then

boom
a crack and a plume
of smoke
of distress
(at a guess)

then boats
full of yellow coats
descend
throwing floats
to save my end
frightening
a girl called Von
in an inflatable swan

to them all I waved
hello
from my pedallo
and made back to shore
to drown
in a bottle I'd down
in one
