i usually start
with the e string
at the bottom
number 1 and mostly
with a hum

and sometimes pick
the 2 fret on the d
then octavate
for fun

but often i just
twist the pegs
whichever way i feel
and let each string
sing out its name

while my fingers
slip and slide and
pluck and play
whatever tunes
will catch
the rhythm
of the day
