Jul 2010
My heart has been hardened,
My mind has been mastered,
By the dead, swarming masses,
The concrete smothering the earth.
Where the leaves are all trampled
By the thousands of footsteps
That coerce me to follow
On the path to things mindless.
Where no mind is engaged,
Where eyes only look inward,
Vain introspect pickled,
Wrinkled in self-hatred.

To the hills my mind lingers.
To the sky my eyes wander.
To the past my heart aches.
I wait to see the dawn break.
