I knelt down
beside your grave
and wiped the dirt
and grass away
from your photo

I told you
all about
the boy I thought I loved
and how beautiful
Colorado was

I hugged your tombstone
and gave it a kiss,
I wiped off some more dirt
then went back to the truck
to get your gift

I bought you a Christmas tree,
one that would stay in the ground
a small one,
about a foot taller
than the ground

I decorated it
with ornaments
and string,
glitter and Christmas type things

I sung you a song
"this is not goodbye, this is until next time"
I gave your tombstone one last hug
and I swear I thought I felt you
Daddy.
