Once,
The universe tore us all in half
Tossed across continents and oceans,
Said, it is your challenge
  In life
To find the rest of you.
  To make yourself whole again.

Some of us have taken this challenge boldly,
Some with a grain of salt,
Some not at all, wasting away in loneliness.
Truth be told, I do not know for certain
If you are the half of me so long ago
Stolen away out of fateful spite
But, baby, Iā€™d bet my life on it
And if at the end of the night, I lose my life
I still had the privilege of losing it to you.
