I live inside his t-shirts
Because I know I won't want to get blood on them
I look out my window before sleep every night
And wish we could have watched the stars together before we couldn't

And we stay within a wreckage
Determining what is salvageable
And what is in ashes
And what is in fractures
And what we can build
But we know what we want

Our souls are too entwined for it to be any other way.

But, Please always tell me that my body is beautiful
I will never tire of hearing it
And promise we'll look out at the skies together most nights
And I will never tear my flesh again.

You gave me safety in your clothes
Something I never had before you.

Always you.
For my husband.
