Shall I smile when a mother's arms are empty?
Her child still born, miscarried, missing.
Her womb empty, her heart shattered, and her arms cold?

Shall I laugh when a woman's dignity and humanity is stolen?
Her body aching, ravaged, and left to crumble?
Her life changed and her trust broken.

Shall I lay and cry because something didn't go quite my way?
When a boy forced into a man died at the feet of his country?
His family sobbing, while uniformed men say "a job well done".

How can I have these rights to these strong emotions when the cause can be so much stronger?
It's just...
troubling.
