In an ocean of black,
Light can mean two things
Help
Or Danger

The light was neon red and
I swam closer and closer,
Until the black water altered itself into a translucent electric blue.

A ruby red squid heaved itself through the water to me
And held out its tentacle
I reached for it
the slimey sensation  put me off guard at first and
A censored scream slipped through my lips with a burst of bubbles right after
My new friend reassured me my safety and reached for my arm

Its tentacle spiraled round my arm
Tightening with every loop

Then suddenly
He took off
Flying through the vast ocean at top speed,
I felt free
How selfish of me, to feel so free
But I soon came to realize that I wasn't being selfish at all.

The squid slowed his speed,
and floated down to a majestic coral cove full of humans!
They all greeted me with smiles and waves, then asked if I wanted to stay

Then the magnificent ruby squid handed me my β€œwelcome home” bouquet
