Better Now

In an earlier time
Perhaps when this old house
Was new
I would have taken to my bed
To wait it out
A luxury not offered
So I lived through my own set of horrors
To emerge,
Hatch, if you will
On the other side
Slightly wobbly
Slightly damaged
But here

To those who might say
I was already fine
I say
It only looked that way
