Dec 2020
It was as if I stood upon the same burning embers every day of the week.
The flicker of them dying was the only peace to me.
The pain that was inflicted hardly made me flinch.
It was as if I'd die here, but it didn't make any sense.
These embers, they glow in the wind, they change shape and burn into your skin.

When the rain started falling, at first I didn't even feel it.
The downpour that came next got me out of my head.
The pain I was feeling, died with every scared breath.
Just when I thought I would burn like the rest
You came and saved me, like a bird coming back to its nest

Because now I can see the fire
In such a different way
The light hits me differently
and I can tell you feel the same

When you feel like you can't breathe,
please remember how you were there for me
The way my hand felt on yours
and our first kiss, nervous in your car.

Now we see, there is smoke before fire
Because at the end of the day when the seas calm
I'll be there, your fire, until the day is through.
We can laugh until our faces turn blue
I'd waste every day with you
