[American] Dreamer (Lyrics)
One hundred miles down a broken road,
that leads us straight to Hell
I'd sell my soul for all its worth,
if you can't already tell
Now I'm a dreamer, but I won't lie
so before you start to criticize
Just ask yourself if you'd rather trade your place
with your leather shoes, your shirt and tie
even the keys to your brand new ride
they won't get you far when its all done
So before they try to make you change your ways
hold your hands up high and show them that you'll seize the day
So one and all just come with me,
before the babies start to cry
Lets change the tide before it rolls in,
and you start to change your mind
Don't close your eyes, open wide and see
that nothing is how its supposed to be
and the statues preach that we're all free
They'll wake you up from your shattered dream
between the lines reads a ****** scene
and only God knows how it ends
So before they try to make you change your ways
hold your hands up high and show them that you'll seize the day
As painted skies cloud up with grey
all the broken pieces of yesterday
reassemble in a clever way
this American dream ain't here to stay
So before they try to make you change your ways
hold your hands up high and show them that you'll seize the day
A song I wrote with my band, Amberstein.
