You’ve always been so close
Always a call or ride away
But now I cannot reach you
And I wait for your return.

You’ve always been so close
Always been within my grasp
But now you lay by far off shores
And I wait for your return

I wait for your return
Like a refugee waits on kind shelter
I wait for your return
Like a drowning man
Reaching out his hand
And praying for your touch
I know it won’t be long,
But it’s tearing me apart
And I struggle thru every day
And night brings helpless tears
And I wait for your return.
