And Leonard’s is the only voice
Amid the noiseless bustle
And too many coffees and too little sleep
The night of song that still goes on
Abd faces and voices that slammed into my soul
On the steps of the ‘cur
Dancing eyes that made an ancient heart jitterbug in that club, above a bordello

At 7 we finally called it a day
But sleepless and beating, awake we lay
Not mine forever, but for now
And now is good enough and always on time somehow
‘You’ll be back’ she said
‘Besides, there’s songs to finish, and some to start.
And that thing to do, that I promised you’

I smiled
Knew the truth
Love would bring, it’s guillotine
Ain’t no cure for that
And Leonard’s is the only voice.
