Springtime often turns up late
If she ever comes at all
Sometimes she warms the autumn chill
As leaves begin to fall

Her new embrace will take the place
Of summers spent in vain
And bring to life an ancient heart
And kiss away the pain

So lay awhile and let me see
What springtime has in store for me.

This autumn soul was weary
When you first embraced his arm
Too many summers burnt away
Had left life without charm

You looked on him with tenderness
In innocence and grace
And taught him things so long forgot
And hurt you have replaced

So lay awhile and you will see
Our season’s love was meant to be

And as the years go by
And other seasons die
This love we found will always be
It will not falter

When winters cooling hand is near
And warmth is hard to find
I’ll turn to you, a summer new
And leave the world behind

So lay awhile and hold me near
And cast away your doubt and fear

And as the years go by
And other seasons die
This love we found will always be
It will not falter
