straining at the leash
my pet Kraken pulls me
along the sunny esplanade

coming the other way
we meet Mr. Nerval
walking his pet lobster Thibault

"What a beautiful blue silk ribbon"
I say to pass the time of day
"Yes...it's Thibault's favourite leash!"

"Je suis une autre!" roars
my pet kraken
"Oh don't mind it...it's very moody today!"

"Good day!" smiles Mr. Nerval
"Good day!" smirks the lobster
"Such manners!" I chortle

my kraken doesn't
even bother with goodbyes
continues to sulk

I buy my kraken
a big candy floss
that cheers it up

such a gorgeous day
yet I have
the esplanade to myself
