Shadows settle where warmth once stood

On windowsills

Beneath quilted covers

Emancipated, gaunt figures now linger there :

Reeking of desperation, to make sense of the cold.
O eternal dusk

And the dark side of the moon

Encompass, envelop and have us whole.
