Maybe it would be best
to just forget you,
to tie my love
to a helium balloon
and release it to the clouds.
But I find it difficult
to just let go,
because at one point
you meant something to me,
and I to you, and although
that feeling has been replaced
by the swift sting of heartache,
I find that fingers cannot grasp
scissors in the severance of ties.
