With a heavy sigh, he lay on down
As his being became his sin
He shut his eyes, lest the horrors about
Blaze anywhere but within

And then he ran, in pitiful stride
As his time looked on in disgrace
To the land, fire and torment abound
For his anguish may yet save face

And he so he stood, broken, perplexed
Beyond him rose a crooked gate
"Let me in" was all he could muster
Yearning to accept his turn of fate

The path lay open with a gentle wail
Faced as he was with his dawn
He knew not how to move beyond
He knew not where his purpose had gone

And so rose the anguish within
His trance held by the gate about
Above, a light danced in the echo
Awaiting a union, lost in doubt
