I saw a lady in the mirror today,
I didn't know her, so I turned away.
Glancing back, she fixed on my stare;
So I decided to ask why she was there.

A face familiar, yet shrouded in grey,
Lines of laugher, joys of yesterday.
Eyes that should sparkle, but shining with tears
Wrinkles of frowning, furrows of fears.

So oft called the sunshine, yet stuck in the rain.
A 'golden smile', grimaced in pain.
But in the blue iris, a spark holds my glance;
The fight is still there, she's still got a chance.

The darkest of moments, before every dawn
Dissolving in feelings, allowing to mourn
All boundaries broken, the light can flood in
Waking and breathing can count as a win.

A smile teases to show as her shoulders pull back
The face of a beauty, braced to attack.
No words spoken, but everything's clear.
She came to tell me, I'm worth being here.
