It's that time of the day
when you pause and take a time out
to observe and gaze
to listen and hear out
for those sights and sounds
that gives the day its components

Now hear!
In the distance, the dogs interupt
the desired silence of the day with loud barks
the sound of babies' cries seeking for their mothers' attentions
pierces through the supposed quietness
the road shows off her burden of fleeting and speeding vehicles

I have thought of this scene of life when I was much younger
I saw how busy every adult seemed to be
I wondered if there were any special knowledge
they each had to acquire to go about the day's business
or if it was deposited equally in them all

Now, from where i sit
I bitter sweetly wave my youthfulness goodbye
It's beginning to dawn on me
that the knowledge that seemed to be common
among everyone wasn't just deposited
Painfully it was earned, learnt and hustled for
Finally figuring out that in the heat of each passing day
there's an extra knowledge and skill each person strives to gain
to put him or her at an advantage over the next person

Yes as difficult as it seems
I had to learn this truth the hard way
figured out I couldn't just hang in there in the midst of everyone
and desire to still standout
I had to press forward, push my way through the comforting hindrances of easy living
acquire something the next girl standing close to me didn't already have
and let life appreciate my existence
The transition into the world of independence could be quite a fit. Keep pushing
