There was a quiet man
watching the cold waters of the sea

the life that she had shared with me
was rising from her bed
beyond a plain man’s sight
up to that unknown height

and still she lay within the room
and from her silent body came
light of a celestial mother

blessing me for what I’d done
loving me for what I’d been
in all our time together
