At first I must have blinded you
With my rays of golden sun light;
You were caught in love at first sight—
That was pure delight!
Throughout the days that came and went,
We loved; you and I
On those days spent.
Until one night underneath
The blue-black night skies,
There you showed me from
Where you came—
A constellation of stars
That will somehow bring me pain.
And sure enough, the day was to come;
That I, the Sun and you the Moon,
Could not be made one;
And so, by day my light gives way
And shines a path for you to take flight,
To shine your light when I am away.
Sad to say; how you the Moon
And I the Sun;
A love that could not be made one.
