“Prove it”
Those were the words
That rung in my ears
Every time your lips parted
“Prove it”
You repeated it like a profanity
It came with so much brutality
I always had to prove that I loved you
You got me to do the worst things
Things you would not let your enemies do
Just to prove that I loved you
So I did
I ripped my heart out
Ignoring the strip of fire in my chest
Counting down to when I will start regretting it
Yet again
“Prove it”- you said
So I cut myself to show you the power you had
But that was not enough and one last time
“Prove it”- you yelled
And off the cliff I jumped
“Idiot”- you chuckled and walked away
. Fooled
