I will tell myself, in mutters
My prayers matter
Soon, my higher power shall sail away into a sawdust motel
Like a message in a bottle

This world is made of winners and losers
I have told myself I can't win
Yet, I always win because without winners
There are unrequited lovers

I tell myself that the leaves will stay on trees
When it is Autumn, I am proven wrong about my chances
I am an unrequited lover
I search for love in sawdust motels
The truth is for the alive. Because they can't live with the abundance of lies.
