As i lay awake,
instead of counting sheep
i count the never ending
mass of scars engraved in my skin,
and i come to realize,
life's not fair
at least for most it isn't
it greets you with a laugh and a smile
and takes you step by step
up the ladder of life
until it pulls the ladder from beneath you
and leaves you hanging to watch everything
crumble around you.
